Men's Club

The Canal Walk Men’s Club welcomes you to our community. We are one of the premier clubs in the community that provides a venue for having fun, socializing and promoting a neighborly atmosphere. The Club is involved in activities and fund-raising that benefit our own community as well as our neighbors outside of Canal Walk who are in need.

Membership is open to all male residents of Canal Walk. We cordially invite you to join the 230+ Club members and support our various activities and events. We promise you our friendship, a sense of belonging and active involvement through many projects and events.

We meet the second Monday of every month. After the business meeting, programs feature speakers who cover cultural, social, educational, sports, environmental and other topics that are of particular interest to our members.  These include “Maximizing Medicare”,”Beerfest, spirit sampling and Wine-Tasting”, “Warm up after the Winter”, “The lives and times of famous entertainers such as Mel Brooks and Jackie Gleason”, “Aging at Home”,“Memory Loss & Enhancement”, etc. Refreshments follow each meeting.

We hold parties! Our most popular is our Annual BBQ Picnic in July and our Holiday Party in Decemberwhich are both free to members.

We care. Our Care Committee recognizes life cycle events that impact our members. Caring means being available to help support the needs of the membership.

Every month, we organize dinners attended by the ROMEOs (Ravenous Old Men Eating Out) at a variety of local restaurants.

We have fun! We have a very active golf program. Outings are organized for the camaraderie, enjoyment and competition that the sport provides. Prizes are awarded to winning foursomes in all levels of play. There is an annual Ryder Cup type event against a neighboring community called “The Somerset Walkers Cup” as well as a Ryder Cup within the community between the “Pinstripers” and the “Over the Hill Gang” teams. A list of active golfers is also available so Canal Walk residents can contact and organize their own casual groups.

We play softball. Our team competes in the Franklin “over 50” Softball League against other Franklin Township senior teams.

We sponsor the AARP Driver Safety program that is available to all Canal Walk residents.  This program can save you on your automobile insurance.

Year-round collection of food for the Franklin Township Food Bank and the Summer & Holiday food drives. Our yearly collections total over 5,000 pounds of food and about $ 3,300 in cash, thanks to the generosity of the entire Canal Walk community

We fund purchases that benefit all of Canal Walk, such as a defibrillator, a large movie screen for the Clubhouse Ballroom and park benches for the Canal Walk community.

We make donations to a number of organizations and activities including the Franklin Township Food Bank, Visiting Nurse Association, Franklin Animal Shelter, East Millstone Rescue Squad, Millstone Valley Fire Dept., Elizabeth Ave. Volunteer Fire Dept., Operation Graduation for high school graduates and Operation Shoebox for military personnel.

We collect and recycle smoke/fire detectors and unneeded eyeglasses for Eyes for the Needy.
