Men's Club

CANAL WALK MEN’S CLUB

The Canal Walk Men’s Club is here for you. We are one of the premier clubs in the community.  We provide a venue for having fun, learning, socializing and promoting a neighborly atmosphere. The Club is involved in activities and fund-raising that benefit our own community as well as our neighbors outside of Canal Walk who are in need.

Membership is open to all male residents of Canal Walk. We cordially invite you to join the 230+ Club members and participate in our various activities and events. We promise you friendship, a sense of belonging and active involvement through many projects and events.

WE ARE A VERY ACTIVE CLUB

We meet on the second Monday of every month. After the business meeting, programs feature speakers who cover cultural, social, personal health, educational, sports, recreational, environmental and other topics that are of particular interest to our members.  These include “Maximizing Medicare,” ”Beerfest, spirit sampling and Wine-Tasting,” “Warm up after the Winter,”  “Aging at Home,”  “Memory Loss & Enhancement,”  and exploring the lives and times of famous entertainers such as Mel Brooks and Jackie Gleason, etc. Refreshments follow each meeting.  Videos of many of our recent programs are available at this site:   https://tinyurl.com/cwmensclubchannel

We hold two parties a year!  These are our Annual Picnic in July and our Holiday Party in December which are both free to paid members.

SOCIAL PROGRAMS AND SPORTS

We care. Our Care Committee recognizes life cycle events that impact our members. Caring means being available to help support the needs of the membership.

Every month we organize ROMEO dinners (Ravenous Old Men Eating Out) for our members and all Canal Walk men.

We have fun! We have a very active golf program. Outings are organized for the camaraderie, enjoyment and competition that the sport provides. Prizes are awarded to winning foursomes in all levels of play. There is an annual Ryder Cup-type event against a neighboring community called “The Somerset Walkers Cup” as well as a Ryder Cup within the community between the “Pinstripers” and the “Over the Hill Gang” teams. A list of active golfers is also available so Canal Walk residents can contact and organize their own casual groups.

We play softball. Our team competes in the Franklin “over 50” Softball League against other Franklin Township senior teams.

We have begun a Men’s Club reading group for all Canal Walk men that meets monthly.

COMMUNITY SERVICE & PHILANTHROPY

We sponsor the AARP Driver Safety program that is available to all Canal Walk residents.  This program can save you on your automobile insurance.

We perform community services, the most notable of which are the collection of food and cash donations for the Franklin Food Bank and the Franklin Animal Shelter.

We have funded purchases that benefit all of Canal Walk, including a defibrillator, a large movie screen for the Clubhouse Ballroom and park benches for the Canal Walk community.

In addition to the above, we make donations to a number of organizations and activities including the Visiting Nurse Association, East Millstone Rescue Squad, Millstone Valley Fire Dept., Elizabeth Ave. Volunteer Fire Dept., and Operation Shoebox for military personnel.

We collect unneeded eyeglasses for Eyes for the Needy.

We sponsor a collection of bottle caps so that they can be recycled properly.

For more information or to become a member -- contact our membership chair: John Tarantino (908-400-1014). We look forward to having you become one of us.
